Mission Statement

Under the Headship of Jesus Christ, Swan Creek Baptist Church strives to obey God’s Word by Exalting the Lord, Edifying the saints, and Evangelizing the lost.

Exalting the Lord

Giving God glory in our worship

Sunday Worship Services

The greatest privilege and highest priority of God’s people is the opportunity to glorify God, and God’s Word repeatedly urges us to gather together to accomplish that lofty goal (Psalm 100). This biblical emphasis prompts us to regard the Sunday morning worship service as the highlight of the week. Rather than follow the popular trend of trying to entertain people, we strive to focus on pleasing God by aligning each portion of our service with the clear mandates of Scripture. For example, we use only the best hymns we can find, including both older and newer compositions, whose texts clearly reflect biblical truth (Colossians 3:16). In addition, our service has a “traditional” feel because we are convinced that music styles designed to imitate the world are not likely to please the Lord (Romans 12:1-2). Even more importantly, we are committed to expositional preaching of God’s Word because the culmination of worship is the opportunity to hear from God and respond in humble obedience to what He has said (Psalm 95:6-8).

Daily submission to His Will

The opportunity to give God glory is not limited to an hour or so on Sunday mornings. The experience of corporate worship naturally leads to the wider goal of honoring the Lord all week long through personal obedience to His Word, eager submission to His will, and active service for the cause of Christ. Energized by the grace of God, the believer thus strives to glorify the Lord in virtually everything he does. Opportunities abound, ranging from the most simple activities of life such as eating and drinking (1 Corinthians 10:31), to sharing the gospel with someone in need (1 Peter 3:15). With such a week-long focus, each believer should be well prepared to join together with God’s people every Sunday morning in gratitude and heartfelt worship before the God who has faithfully sustained, enabled and protected his children.

Edifying the Saints

Building up God’s people in their relationship with Christ and others.

Biblical Instruction

All our services and Sunday School classes are designed to support our church family in understanding and applying God’s Word. Our Children’s Church and Sunday School hour may include fun activities and coloring pages, but they always emphasize teaching our children what the Bible says and how it changes our lives.

Fervent Fellowship

When joining our church, many of our members have commented on the friendliness of the people at Swan Creek and the many opportunities to develop genuine relationships with others. The Bible describes the New Testament church as functioning as a family (1 Timothy 3:15) with a responsibility to meet together to encourage each other to respond to God’s Word (Hebrews 10:25) and use their gifts to serve each other. We strive to cultivate fervent fellowship among our church family through frequent men’s prayer breakfast, women’s bible studies, annual ladies event conference and church-wide fellowships (dessert throw-down, home fellowships, summer fellowships, retreats).

Compassionate Service

Whether it’s taking someone a meal, serving in nursery or children’s ministry, writing notes of encouragement, cleaning the church, assisting with a move, doing yard work, helping with house projects, or many other ways to serve, most of the acts of compassionate service conducted throughout our church body are organized by members who simply see a need and meet it. Galatians 6:2 says, “So then, as we have opportunity, let us do good to everyone, and especially to those who are of the household of faith.” This organic compassion grows out of genuine love among the members of the church.

Evangelizing the Lost

Presenting the gospel to those without Christ.

Community

In response to God’s love for us, we are excited to share the good news of His salvation with those in our community. Throughout the school year, a group from our church holds a weekly JYC Club at a nearby middle school. Each month, we are privileged to love and encourage shut-ins a visitors through our GROW ministries on Tuesdays. We have the wonderful privilege to partner with Pregnancy Help Center providing excellent care for the women of Yadkin County. We partner with a very dear ministry of the church, Alpha Acres. A year long, substance abuse program that has deep roots in our church.

Worldwide

We are grateful for the opportunity to support the spread of God’s kingdom through missions all across the world. We enjoy close relationships with all our missionaries, and are committed to supporting them spiritually, emotionally, and financially. Every Month, we focus a portion of our corporate prayer on the requests of one of our missionaries; we include all of our missionaries current requests in the Wednesday prayer bulletin to encourage our members to pray throughout the week. Our supporting mission works include pastors, translators, church-planters, Bible professors, Christian camps, and a radio station.
